I would like to think that's it -- a return of common sense. Based on the random chatter to be found in most cities, though, I have my doubts....

I do think it is a buyer's market. I've been able to buy components at reasonable prices, my advertisement:
WTB X of Y at Z gold (2x Trader Buying Price)
I usually get good response back from people who want to sell at anything higher than the Trader will give them. Although, about 3/4 of the people want to sell me at the Trader's Selling Price -- I just ignore them.

Bugged traders as I today decided to check how much would the dye merchant pay for silver dye and I got 1gp as a offer.
His selling price?
Over 6000 gp.
I dont think traders have 6000% profit margins, I sold a superior monk rune for 40k as he was selling it at 50k and that shows something IS very wrong with some of the traders.

One reason it's down is because of the easy faction points now to buy runes, hilts, pommels for your PVP character. So, there's no great reason to buy the stuff from players now, just unlock them with faction points which is much easier to come by than finding the items in the game and only play PVE for the SKILLS which don't cost anything from players and are reasonably priced from the vendors.

Exactly! As people fill their 4 character slots, run to Droknar's and get their armor, there are fewer buyers. OR people use a high level character to find things for lower level characters. Without some sort of level requirement for items, there's no compelling reason for a level 5 character NOT to use a level 10 item until they -do- get there.

I'd love to be a buyer. Unfortunately, I'm just a 'normal' GW player: I start the game, play a few hours in whatever area I'm currently at for my current character, then stop. Weird, huh? *laugh* And by doing this that means all I get 99.9997% of the time is tiny piles of gold and white items that sell for small amounts of gold. So how the hell am I supposed to buy anything of any signficance? Fortunately, GW isn't much of an equipment game, so I can do just fine using generic crap gear.
I love this game, but the game economy is absolutlely the worst I've ever seen in over 15 years of gaming. It makes zero sense. Just to give one example, I sat at the dye trader the other day and watched red dye being bought by the dye trade from anywhere between 1 gold and 513 gold (and every price in between) in the space of about 20 minutes. This is especially hilarious because a lot of people are selling their items based on 'what the trader/merchant is asking', and since that price has no basis in reality they sit their for hours trying to sell something at a price they'll never get.
And then you toss in the fact that so many people have 'bot gold' (either of their own or purchased online with real money), and can pay -anything- for something, you have an economy that is completely out of control. So a person can wait hours selling a mediocre item at 40k gold, and no 'real' player can buy it, and yet if they are patient enough someone will eventually come along and pay it with their 'fake' gold.
So to sum it up: the GWars economy is completely insane, and getting what you want out of it is more of a miracle than anything else.

Also its not like we can go kill something and know we can get a dye drop, drops are completly random and so you can kill a enemy and get a black dye and 500 hours later of killing him over and over again ... nothing.

that's just bad luck my friend. i've only played for about 400 hours and i've found 6 black dyes before i even left pre searing.
1. people turn off the trade channel because its too much spam
2. prices are too high for most
3. people are discovering that you can spend about 20k to get the best gear (excluding armor) at least i have discovered this
4. casual players with no money.
i sell at standard prices on common material 10g. about 100g for most rare material. never even try to sell weapons unless its max dmg 15% hp>50 or enchanted. i either sell to merchants or salvage upgrades and do huge upgrade auctions. i got 45 upgrades i need to be auctioning off right now because they are spilling over to my stash.
sell your stuff for lower prices and get the inventory moved. no point in holding it for another hour just to get 2k. i can get that in 10 minutes.

I'd like to add that collector items are usually better than the gold items that people sell.

The game seems to have finally returned to some sort of normality with regards to trade. My major concern was selling materials. No one seemed to want them. All is better now though, made 20K out of some would and steel. Next 15K piece roll along

As a buyer for the most part....I am tired of people selling mediocre crap for 50K.....or the fake C/O 65K.....B/O 80K for something I know I have paid 35K for that is exactly the same 1 or 2 months ago.
I have basically everthing I need so I am looking for those little extra items. The seller mentality of gosh.....I can really make a lot of cash and pay for my full 15K set on one item......is what drives a lot of this. I think it would be funny if Anet flooded the market with a ton of great drops.....and watch the market crash.....it would be funny to watch.

they have flooded it ... thats why if I find an item thats not perfect ... and by perfect I mean all mods plus 15 over 50% with low req. If its not that then boom it goes to the merchant cause I need the space.
